Black Stump Race Results

The R & R Sport Black Stump Adventure took place on 16th February 2008, with a huge turn out. Mountain Bike riders of all ages, gender and experience ascended to the hills of Glen Massey, deep in the heart of the Waikato. They came to challenge themselves on the course pegged out by a masochistic sheep farmer called Graeme. 406 riders were herded into the sheep yards and drafted into their pens in readiness to start with the sound of the shotgun. With a generous soaking of rain the track was in superb condition, with steep gullies, and bush terrain to overcome.
The winning riders for the 40km was Chris Gaze from Otorohanga, defending his title from last year with a time of 2:23:16 and Roz Reekie-May from Morrinsville, also defending her title with a time of 3:01:03. Other winners were:

30Km: Male - Brad Tilby - 1:43:36 - Auckland
Female - Katherine ONeil - 2:23:42 - Auckland

Female - Cheryl Atkins - 1:17:05 - Auckland
